MEET PAUL LIM

The Singapore Slinger

That’s right – we’re thrilled to announce that The Legend, Paul Lim, is the latest darting great to confirm his participation at Dartoid’s “Darts in Paradise.  Paul is a multiple soft-tip world champion.

Like so many players, Lim began playing darts by chance. Friends asked him to accompany them to a pub and along he went – the rest is history. But there is more to the story, and it is not widely known – Lim was in London at the time training to be a French chef. He excelled at thatjust as he soon did at darts. Over the years he cooked for many of the greats: John Lowe, EricBristow and Jocky Wilson, among others. Who else has done this!

An international player - times FOUR!

During his career (and at 70, he is still playing at a high standard - competing on the PDC Asian Tour) Lim has represented FOUR countries. He initially played for Papua New Guinea, then the United States, Singapore and Hong Kong. NO ONE else can make this claim!

The Perfect Game

Paul is perhaps most famous for (in 1990) being the first player to hit a perfect game in the Embassy World Darts Championship.  He won £52,000 for the achievement - £28,000 more than Phil Taylor pocketed for winning the tournament.  Paul's perfect 9-dart finish stood for 19 years as the only one achieved in a world championship match until Raymond van Barneveld completed one in 2009.

Twenty-eight years later, almost to the day… Paul nearly did it again!

In the 2018 PDC World Darts Championship darts fans around the world, even Paul's second round opponent, Gary Anderson, were on the edges of their seats when Paul was looking at d12 for another 9-darter. The moment was electric, the sigh of disappointment universal when Paul’s final dart just missed its mark.
